Green waters of Marina Piccola

This painting was inspired by my recent trip to Capri, Italy, where I spent three weeks painting. For this work, I referred to several plein-air studies I completed on the island. The unique lighting depicted here is what you'd experience sitting on the rocks of Marina Piccola on an early summer afternoon. The water's shimmer is truly breathtaking, with the warm-colored sparkles reflecting the tones of the evening sun. The striking contrast between the Mediterranean's green, luminous waters and the shadowed side of the massive Marina Piccola rock creates an incredibly beautiful scene. It was, undoubtedly, the most captivating sight I witnessed on my trip.

This piece is an original, one-of-a-kind artwork painted with professional-quality tempera paints on fine linen canvas mounted on a board. It has a stunning matte finish and doesn't require varnishing. It can be framed without glass.
